Location: Mannon Metal Works LLC – Laclede County, MO & Surrounding Areas
Job Type: Part-Time (Weekends only - subject to change)
Salary: $21–$27/hour – Based on experience

Requirements

Mannon Metal Works LLC is seeking a Brake Press Operator with precision and experience to handle critical forming work on equipment parts and structural components. You’ll be responsible for interpreting blueprints, setting bend angles, and forming steel parts to spec using manual or semi-CNC press brake machines. This role is central to producing our high-quality buckets, implements, and repair pieces.

Career Progression
Welder Helper ($16 - $18/hr)
          Assists welders with preparation, material handling, and maintenance tasks.
Welder ($19 - $23/hr)
          Performs welding tasks on various equipment, ensuring quality and safety.
Field Welder ($24 - $28/hr)
          Conducts on-site welding, often in varying conditions, requiring adaptability.
Fitter Apprentice ($22 - $26/hr)
          Learns to assemble and fit structural components under supervision. 
Fitter ($27 - $32/hr)
          Expert in assembling and fitting components, ensuring precision and quality.

Leadership & Advanced Roles
Lead Welder / Senior Fitter ($32 - $38/hr)
          Oversees welding and fitting projects, mentors junior staff, and ensures standards.
Shop Supervisor / Foreman ($38 - $45/hr)
          Manages shop operations, coordinates projects, and leads teams to meet objectives.

     1. AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (American Welding Society)

          Required for working on high-strength steel structures.
     2. AWS D1.3 Sheet Metal Welding Certification
          Ideal for welding thinner sheet metal used in various industries.
     3. AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification
          Covers precision welding of aluminum and stainless steel.
     4. ASME Section IX Pipe Welding Certification
          Certification for high-pressure pipe welding, required for industrial and manufacturing work.
     5. OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 Safety Certification

How We Support Certification
Reimbursement for Exam & Testing Fees – Mannon Metal Works covers a portion or full cost of certification exams for employees who pass.
On-the-Job Training & Test Prep – Welders can gain hands-on experience to prepare for certification tests.

Eligibility for Certification Assistance
     • Must be employed with Mannon Metal Works for at least 6 months.
     • Must demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques related to the certification.
     • Must commit to remaining with the company for at least one year after receiving certification.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate press brake machine according to fabrication drawings
  • Adjust backstops, tooling, dies, and bend sequences to match material and part geometry
  • Measure bend angles and part lengths to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Perform quality checks and adjustments throughout the forming process
  • Read and interpret bend drawings, flat patterns, and tolerances
  • Work with Parts Prep and Fitter teams to ensure timely project flow
  • Label and organize formed parts on pallets for welding or assembly
  • Maintain tooling, inspect dies, and clean equipment daily
  • Assist with safe loading/unloading of long or heavy material
  • Follow all shop safety procedures and report machine issues immediately
Qualifications & Skills
  • 2+ years of experience operating a hydraulic or mechanical brake press
  • Strong understanding of steel types, material behavior, and bend allowances
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
  • Basic math and measuring skills (angle finders, calipers, tape, etc.)
  • Experience setting up tooling and gauging for part repeatability
  • Physically able to handle and manipulate heavy parts
  • Focused, detail-oriented, and committed to consistent quality
  • Team player who can communicate with welders, fitters, and prep crew
Work Environment
  • Indoor shop with moderate-to-heavy lifting, bending, and handling long material
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and pinch-point hazards — PPE is mandatory
  • Work closely with fitters and welders in a fast-paced production setting
  • Your accuracy directly impacts downstream welding and assembly quality
