Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press brake machine according to fabrication drawings
- Adjust backstops, tooling, dies, and bend sequences to match material and part geometry
- Measure bend angles and part lengths to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Perform quality checks and adjustments throughout the forming process
- Read and interpret bend drawings, flat patterns, and tolerances
- Work with Parts Prep and Fitter teams to ensure timely project flow
- Label and organize formed parts on pallets for welding or assembly
- Maintain tooling, inspect dies, and clean equipment daily
- Assist with safe loading/unloading of long or heavy material
- Follow all shop safety procedures and report machine issues immediately
Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ years of experience operating a hydraulic or mechanical brake press
- Strong understanding of steel types, material behavior, and bend allowances
- Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
- Basic math and measuring skills (angle finders, calipers, tape, etc.)
- Experience setting up tooling and gauging for part repeatability
- Physically able to handle and manipulate heavy parts
- Focused, detail-oriented, and committed to consistent quality
- Team player who can communicate with welders, fitters, and prep crew
Work Environment
- Indoor shop with moderate-to-heavy lifting, bending, and handling long material
- Exposure to noise, dust, and pinch-point hazards — PPE is mandatory
- Work closely with fitters and welders in a fast-paced production setting
- Your accuracy directly impacts downstream welding and assembly quality
