Location: Mannon Metal Works LLC – Laclede County, MO & Surrounding Areas
Job Type: Part-Time (Weekends only - subject to change)
Salary: $24–$32/hour – Based on experience

Requirements

Mannon Metal Works LLC is hiring a CAD Designer to create detailed shop drawings, custom bucket schematics, flat layouts, and assembly prints for our fabrication team. This role bridges design with real-world fabrication and supports the production of precision parts for farm equipment, excavator attachments, and custom steelwork.

Career Progression
Welder Helper ($16 - $18/hr)
          Assists welders with preparation, material handling, and maintenance tasks.
Welder ($19 - $23/hr)
          Performs welding tasks on various equipment, ensuring quality and safety.
Field Welder ($24 - $28/hr)
          Conducts on-site welding, often in varying conditions, requiring adaptability.
Fitter Apprentice ($22 - $26/hr)
          Learns to assemble and fit structural components under supervision. 
Fitter ($27 - $32/hr)
          Expert in assembling and fitting components, ensuring precision and quality.

Leadership & Advanced Roles
Lead Welder / Senior Fitter ($32 - $38/hr)
          Oversees welding and fitting projects, mentors junior staff, and ensures standards.
Shop Supervisor / Foreman ($38 - $45/hr)
          Manages shop operations, coordinates projects, and leads teams to meet objectives.

     1. AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (American Welding Society)
          Covers welding of structural steel in commercial, industrial, and construction applications.
          Required for working on high-strength steel structures.
     2. AWS D1.3 Sheet Metal Welding Certification
          Ideal for welding thinner sheet metal used in various industries.
     3. AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification
          Covers precision welding of aluminum and stainless steel.
     4. ASME Section IX Pipe Welding Certification
          Certification for high-pressure pipe welding, required for industrial and manufacturing work.
     5. OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 Safety Certification
          Ensures compliance with workplace safety regulations.
          Required for working on some commercial job sites.

How We Support Certification
Reimbursement for Exam & Testing Fees – Mannon Metal Works covers a portion or full cost of certification exams for employees who pass.
On-the-Job Training & Test Prep – Welders can gain hands-on experience to prepare for certification tests.

Eligibility for Certification Assistance
     • Must be employed with Mannon Metal Works for at least 6 months.
     • Must demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques related to the certification.
     • Must commit to remaining with the company for at least one year after receiving certification.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Create 2D and 3D models for custom parts, assemblies, and bucket designs
  • Generate shop-ready blueprints and flat patterns for plasma cutting and brake work
  • Update and manage drawing revisions, part numbers, and file archives
  • Collaborate with welders and fitters to ensure drawings match real-world needs
  • Design fixtures and jigs to support fit-up and welding operations
  • Use measurement tools to reverse-engineer or digitize parts brought in by clients
  • Assist with prototype development and R&D efforts
  • Provide drawings to customers for review or approval as needed
  • Coordinate with the shop supervisor to align designs with build timelines
Qualifications & Skills
  • 2+ years CAD experience in fabrication, construction, or mechanical drafting
  • Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar
  • Familiarity with sheet metal layouts, bend allowances, and part tolerances
  • Experience designing buckets, implements, or heavy equipment parts is a plus
  • Ability to interpret field sketches or measurements
  • Strong file management and documentation habits
  • Able to communicate effectively with both the shop floor and front office
Work Environment
  • Workstation setup in an office or design space
  • Regular visits to the shop floor to verify dimensions or check on builds
  • May include light fieldwork or client visits for project scoping or reverse engineering
