Mannon Metal Works LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Welder / Senior Fitter to take a leadership role in our fabrication operations. This role combines hands-on welding and fitting expertise with mentorship and project oversight. The ideal candidate is a seasoned tradesperson who leads by example, produces high-quality work, and is capable of guiding junior welders and fitters through successful projects.

Career Progression
Welder Helper ($16 - $18/hr)
          Assists welders with preparation, material handling, and maintenance tasks.
Welder ($19 - $23/hr)
          Performs welding tasks on various equipment, ensuring quality and safety.
Field Welder ($24 - $28/hr)
          Conducts on-site welding, often in varying conditions, requiring adaptability.
Fitter Apprentice ($22 - $26/hr)
          Learns to assemble and fit structural components under supervision. 
Fitter ($27 - $32/hr)
          Expert in assembling and fitting components, ensuring precision and quality.

Leadership & Advanced Roles
Lead Welder / Senior Fitter ($32 - $38/hr)
          Oversees welding and fitting projects, mentors junior staff, and ensures standards.
Shop Supervisor / Foreman ($38 - $45/hr)
          Manages shop operations, coordinates projects, and leads teams to meet objectives. 

On the job training – We offer on the job training in welding skills for career advancement.
Tool stipends – Mannon Metal Works can assist helpers in acquiring basic personal tools.
Protective gear – We provide PPE, gloves, and helmets.

Certifications We Support
     1. AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (American Welding Society)
          Covers welding of structural steel in commercial, industrial, and construction applications.
          Required for working on high-strength steel structures.
     2. AWS D1.3 Sheet Metal Welding Certification
          Ideal for welding thinner sheet metal used in various industries.
     3. AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification
          Covers precision welding of aluminum and stainless steel.
     4. ASME Section IX Pipe Welding Certification
          Certification for high-pressure pipe welding, required for industrial and manufacturing work.
     5. OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 Safety Certification
          Ensures compliance with workplace safety regulations.
          Required for working on some commercial job sites.
     6. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Pathway
          For experienced welders looking to move into inspection roles.

How We Support Certification
Reimbursement for Exam & Testing Fees – Mannon Metal Works covers a portion or full cost of certification exams for employees who pass.
On-the-Job Training & Test Prep – Welders can gain hands-on experience to prepare for certification tests.

Eligibility for Certification Assistance
     • Must be employed with Mannon Metal Works for at least 6 months.
     • Must demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques related to the certification.
     • Must commit to remaining with the company for at least one year after receiving certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced welding and structural fit-up for custom farm equipment and excavator attachments
• Read, interpret, and execute complex fabrication blueprints
• Lead and assist in fit-up and tack welding processes to meet specifications
• Mentor apprentice welders and fitters to ensure safe, quality practices
• Inspect finished products for structural soundness, measurements, and appearance
• Coordinate with the Shop Supervisor on project needs, timelines, and priorities
• Maintain high standards of shop organization, cleanliness, and tool care
• Promote a positive, productive, and safety-conscious team culture
• Ensure that welding and fit-up work is completed on time and within spec

Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of welding and fitting experience in heavy fabrication or construction
• Expert-level knowledge of MIG, Stick, and basic TIG welding
• Strong layout and measuring skills; confident reading detailed blueprints
• Proven ability to train and guide junior team members
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work full shifts in physically demanding conditions
• High integrity, team focus, and commitment to quality and safety

Work Environment

• Work performed in an indoor fabrication shop and occasionally at field sites
• Frequent exposure to sparks, noise, heavy materials, and metal dust
• Physically demanding work with lifting, grinding, welding, and moving equipment
• Team-focused environment with clear expectations and pride in output
