Mannon Metal Works LLC is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Parts Prep Technician to support daily operations by preparing and staging metal components for welding, forming, and fitting. This role ensures the right materials, cuts, and hardware are delivered to the appropriate stations — including the plasma table, brake press, shear, and welding bays. You’ll work closely with welders, fitters, and shop leadership to ensure every job flows efficiently from print to production.

Career Progression
Welder Helper ($16 - $18/hr)
          Assists welders with preparation, material handling, and maintenance tasks.
Welder ($19 - $23/hr)
          Performs welding tasks on various equipment, ensuring quality and safety.
Field Welder ($24 - $28/hr)
          Conducts on-site welding, often in varying conditions, requiring adaptability.
Fitter Apprentice ($22 - $26/hr)
          Learns to assemble and fit structural components under supervision. 
Fitter ($27 - $32/hr)
          Expert in assembling and fitting components, ensuring precision and quality.

Leadership & Advanced Roles
Lead Welder / Senior Fitter ($32 - $38/hr)
          Oversees welding and fitting projects, mentors junior staff, and ensures standards.
Shop Supervisor / Foreman ($38 - $45/hr)
          Manages shop operations, coordinates projects, and leads teams to meet objectives. 

On the job training – We offer on the job training in welding skills for career advancement.
Tool stipends – Mannon Metal Works can assist helpers in acquiring basic personal tools.
Protective gear – We provide PPE, gloves, and helmets.

Certifications We Support
     1. AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (American Welding Society)
          Covers welding of structural steel in commercial, industrial, and construction applications.
          Required for working on high-strength steel structures.
     2. AWS D1.3 Sheet Metal Welding Certification
          Ideal for welding thinner sheet metal used in various industries.
     3. AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification
          Covers precision welding of aluminum and stainless steel.
     4. ASME Section IX Pipe Welding Certification
          Certification for high-pressure pipe welding, required for industrial and manufacturing work.
     5. OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 Safety Certification
          Ensures compliance with workplace safety regulations.
          Required for working on some commercial job sites.
     6. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Pathway
          For experienced welders looking to move into inspection roles.

How We Support Certification
Reimbursement for Exam & Testing Fees – Mannon Metal Works covers a portion or full cost of certification exams for employees who pass.
On-the-Job Training & Test Prep – Welders can gain hands-on experience to prepare for certification tests.

Eligibility for Certification Assistance
     • Must be employed with Mannon Metal Works for at least 6 months.
     • Must demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques related to the certification.
     • Must commit to remaining with the company for at least one year after receiving certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Review work orders and prints to identify needed raw material, parts, and cut pieces
• Pull and prepare correct material types and thicknesses (plate, tubing, angle, etc.)
• Stage materials at designated workstations (plasma table, press, welding tables, etc.)
• Label and organize parts per project number or drawing
• Coordinate closely with the Plasma Operator and Brake Press Operator
• Ensure all parts needed for a job are delivered together to avoid delays
• Assist with loading/unloading sheet and plate onto cutting tables or machines
• Communicate with welders and helpers to verify part stacks and palletization
• Use hand tools, carts, and forklifts to move and stage materials safely
• Maintain material organization in racks and bins
• Alert the supervisor to material shortages or miscuts

Qualifications & Skills

• 1+ year of shop or warehouse experience preferred
• Strong understanding of steel shapes and fabrication terminology
• Ability to read and interpret basic fabrication drawings or cut lists
• Organized and methodical with strong attention to detail
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and move heavy parts throughout the shop
• Forklift experience is a plus (or willingness to learn)
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Self-motivated and able to anticipate project needs

Work Environment

• Indoor fabrication shop with exposure to sheet metal, hot surfaces, and moving machinery
• Requires lifting, bending, pushing carts, and standing for extended periods
• Fast-paced, high-precision environment focused on teamwork and workflow efficiency
• Protective gear required (gloves, boots, eye protection)
