Key Responsibilities
- Review work orders and prints to identify needed raw material, parts, and cut pieces
- Pull and prepare correct material types and thicknesses (plate, tubing, angle, etc.)
- Stage materials at designated workstations (plasma table, press, welding tables, etc.)
- Label and organize parts per project number or drawing
- Coordinate closely with the Plasma Operator and Brake Press Operator
- Ensure all parts needed for a job are delivered together to avoid delays
- Assist with loading/unloading sheet and plate onto cutting tables or machines
- Communicate with welders and helpers to verify part stacks and palletization
- Use hand tools, carts, and forklifts to move and stage materials safely
- Maintain material organization in racks and bins
- Alert the supervisor to material shortages or miscuts
Qualifications & Skills
- 1+ year of shop or warehouse experience preferred
- Strong understanding of steel shapes and fabrication terminology
- Ability to read and interpret basic fabrication drawings or cut lists
- Organized and methodical with strong attention to detail
- Able to lift 50+ lbs and move heavy parts throughout the shop
- Forklift experience is a plus (or willingness to learn)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated and able to anticipate project needs
Work Environment
- Indoor fabrication shop with exposure to sheet metal, hot surfaces, and moving machinery
- Requires lifting, bending, pushing carts, and standing for extended periods
- Fast-paced, high-precision environment focused on teamwork and workflow efficiency
- Protective gear required (gloves, boots, eye protection)
