Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload metal plate onto the plasma table using shop crane or forklift
- Read cut files, nest parts efficiently, and input programs into CNC software
- Monitor cuts for quality, kerf width, edge finish, and dross levels
- Deburr, sort, label, and organize cut parts for downstream operations
- Collaborate with Parts Prep and Fitters to prioritize projects
- Perform regular maintenance on plasma torch, slats, filters, and air system
- Troubleshoot pierce/start failures, arc errors, and material inconsistencies
- Safely operate grinding and cleaning tools on cut edges
- Keep table area clean, stocked, and ready for the next job
- Assist in pulling raw plate stock from racks as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- 1+ years of experience operating a CNC plasma table or oxy-fuel system
- Familiarity with metal types, plate thickness, and heat settings
- Understanding of G-code/CAM software is a plus
- Comfortable reading fabrication drawings and cut lists
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
- Attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude
- Physically able to lift and position large metal sheets
- Team player who communicates well with shop leads and fabricators
Work Environment
Indoor fabrication shop with exposure to hot metal, noise, and cutting smoke
- Requires lifting 50+ lbs, reaching over tables, and operating heavy equipment
- PPE required: gloves, eye protection, steel toes, and hearing protection
