Job Type: Part-Time (Weekends only - subject to change)
Salary: $38–$45/hour – Based on experience

Requirements

Mannon Metal Works LLC is seeking an experienced and highly organized Shop Supervisor / Foreman to oversee the daily operations of our metal fabrication facility. This leadership role is responsible for managing personnel, coordinating projects, maintaining quality control, and ensuring the smooth operation of shop and field work. The ideal candidate has a strong welding and fabrication background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead by example in a production environment.

Career Progression
Welder Helper ($16 - $18/hr)
          Assists welders with preparation, material handling, and maintenance tasks.
Welder ($19 - $23/hr)
          Performs welding tasks on various equipment, ensuring quality and safety.
Field Welder ($24 - $28/hr)
          Conducts on-site welding, often in varying conditions, requiring adaptability.
Fitter Apprentice ($22 - $26/hr)
          Learns to assemble and fit structural components under supervision. 
Fitter ($27 - $32/hr)
          Expert in assembling and fitting components, ensuring precision and quality.

Leadership & Advanced Roles
Lead Welder / Senior Fitter ($32 - $38/hr)
          Oversees welding and fitting projects, mentors junior staff, and ensures standards.
Shop Supervisor / Foreman ($38 - $45/hr)
          Manages shop operations, coordinates projects, and leads teams to meet objectives.

     1. AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification (American Welding Society)

          Required for working on high-strength steel structures.
     2. AWS D1.3 Sheet Metal Welding Certification
          Ideal for welding thinner sheet metal used in various industries.
     3. AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification
          Covers precision welding of aluminum and stainless steel.
     4. ASME Section IX Pipe Welding Certification
          Certification for high-pressure pipe welding, required for industrial and manufacturing work.
     5. OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 Safety Certification
          Ensures compliance with workplace safety regulations.
          Required for working on some commercial job sites.
     6. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Pathway
          For experienced welders looking to move into inspection roles.

How We Support Certification
Reimbursement for Exam & Testing Fees – Mannon Metal Works covers a portion or full cost of certification exams for employees who pass.
On-the-Job Training & Test Prep – Welders can gain hands-on experience to prepare for certification tests.

Eligibility for Certification Assistance
     • Must be employed with Mannon Metal Works for at least 6 months.
     • Must demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques related to the certification.
     • Must commit to remaining with the company for at least one year after receiving certification.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily workflow, job scheduling, and resource allocation across projects
  • Supervise welders, fitters, helpers, and apprentices to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently
  • Review and interpret blueprints, assign work according to skill level and project scope
  • Ensure all projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and customer expectations
  • Manage shop inventory, material orders, and tool maintenance
  • Maintain shop safety protocols and enforce PPE compliance
  • Conduct regular job checks and quality control inspections
  • Mentor team members and support training and career development
  • Collaborate with ownership and leadership on labor needs and business goals
  • Communicate clearly with customers when needed for job clarification or updates
Qualifications & Skills
  • 7+ years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or fitting
  • 2+ years of supervisory or foreman experience preferred
  • Advanced skills in blueprint reading, layout, fit-up, and fabrication planning
  • Proven ability to manage teams and oversee project timelines
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Organized, proactive, and committed to maintaining a safe, productive work environment
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, move equipment, and occasionally assist on the floor as needed
  • Familiarity with mobile welding setups, CNC plasma, and shop fabrication equipment
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a busy fabrication shop with indoor and outdoor responsibilities
  • Requires multitasking across multiple projects, teams, and deadlines
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise, sparks, heavy machinery, and physical labor
